Sigma Pi

Chapter History

ColonizationOn February 13, 2008, the Alpha-Sigma Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International was colonized at the University of Arkansas, bringing Sigma Pi back to the Fayetteville campus after a more than thirty-year absence. An initial group of 33 men formed the core of the group that sought to become Founding Fathers.

Along with working internally to charter, the Colony brothers sought to integrate themselves within the larger Greek community on campus. Through participation in the Greek intramural sports league, events such as Greek Sing and Greek Week competitions, and philanthropy events, Sigma Pi successfully became a well-known name on campus.

Fall Rush 2008The following year an agreement was reached with University Housing to provide residence for the Colony on-campus, allowing the membership to live together in one house, a great accomplishment for a Colony still so young.

Having been a Colony for almost two years , Alpha-Sigma Colony became the officially chartered Alpha-Sigma Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International on November 7, 2009.
